Since their days in the All-Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, through People’s Democratic Party, PDP and now in the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Greg Obi and Chief Peter Aniekwe have shared the same ideas and aspirations. They have collectively looked out for how to serve Nigerians better. Now, the opportunity has come under the Labour Party platform. The reasons they left PDP is public knowledge. They always insist on transparency, equity and fairness.
Obi is a self-made businessman. Macpee is a self-made businessman. He wants public office for public service. Macpee wants public office for public service. None of them worked in any government office before becoming wealthy. They hardly talk about their services to humanity; people are the ones speaking on their behalf.
Above all, they are dogged fighters. Obi was denied his mandate by the then PDP in Anambra State, he went to court and reclaimed it. He was removed by the State Assembly under frivolous allegations; he went to court and reclaimed his seat. An election was conducted in Anambra and a governor was sworn in, while Obi had not completed his tenure, he went to court, reclaimed his mandate and completed his tenure.
Like Obi, Macpee was named Mmili naliugwu because he did the impossible when political positions were the exclusive reserve of few individuals. He challenged the status quo and today, anybody, no matter whose son or daughter you are, can aspire for any position without going down on bended knees with cap in hand before any political godfather.
Still like the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, Macpee who is vying to represent Anambra East/West Federal Constituency, stated that while Obi will be covering the entire country from Aso Rock, he intends to start from his immediate constituency. Obi had explained severally that his unrelenting struggle for a new Nigeria is, among other reasons, he wants to build Nigeria as a better nation.
Also like Obi, Macpee said that education, particularly, remains the most important investment in the life of every nation that wants to develop; restating his commitment to seeing that the nation’s education sector is well funded for the benefit of the people. “Education remains critical to transforming our nation,” Macpee declared.
He assured that he remains committed to his promise of building a more secure and productive Anambra East/West. He said that by doing so, the constituents will freely explore and be empowered to live life to the fullest, while contributing positively to the growth and development of the nation.
