The Transition Committee Chairman, Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. (Mrs.) Amaka Obi (Iyom Ife-Abata), has explained why she and her team re-built burnt INEC office.
In an article she wrote, she explained: “In our steadfast support for INEC and its pivotal role in democracy, my team and I undertook the reconstruction of the burnt INEC office within the council secretariat. Preserving the integrity of democratic processes necessitates the presence of robust institutions like INEC and adequate infrastructure to facilitate credible elections.
“When these facilities are compromised, so is the commission’s capacity to function effectively. It is our duty to promptly respond to the needs of our constituents within the council area.
“The INEC office, which succumbed to fire damage early last year, was reconstructed within the same year and handed back to the commission. This gesture is aimed at bolstering their efforts and fostering confidence in their endeavors.
“We are aligning ourselves with the vision of Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, and his agenda for a sustainable, thriving homeland. Our commitment is unwavering in building a greater Idemili South that future generations will proudly inherit.”
