Yesterday, Governor Charles Soludo commissioned the Solution Ultra Modern Market and Park in Ekwulobia, announcing that trading stalls would be allocated free of charge to traders as part of his administration’s urban transformation agenda.
The commissioning ceremony marks a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to modernize Ekwulobia and provide safer trading environments for local merchants who previously operated from streets and roadsides.
“As part of our governance philosophy of leaving no one behind, we are allocating these stalls to our traders free of charge,” Soludo declared during the commissioning, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to inclusive economic development.
The new facility combines a modern market complex with an integrated bus park featuring expansive terminal areas, administrative offices, and comfortable passenger waiting facilities. The dual-purpose infrastructure is designed to address both commercial and transportation needs in the growing urban center.
The governor expressed confidence that the project would elevate Ekwulobia to the next level of urban development, describing it as a “game-changer” for the local transportation system.
The free allocation of market stalls represents a departure from conventional market development models where traders typically pay for space allocation. This approach aims to ensure that small-scale traders, regardless of their financial capacity, can access modern trading facilities.
The project forms part of the Soludo administration’s broader strategy to transform Anambra communities into thriving urban centers while maintaining inclusive development principles.
Local traders are expected to begin relocating from their current roadside locations to the new facility in the coming weeks, marking the end of street trading in the area.
