The political atmosphere in Anambra West was electrified as top dignitaries of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) gathered to formally welcome Chief Edochie Onuorah into the party. The high-profile reception, attended by party stalwarts from the state and beyond, underscored the significance of Onuorah’s potential to further strengthen APGA’s dominance in the region.
Chief Onuorah, a respected international businessman and political strategist, recently joined APGA, citing Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s remarkable developmental strides and leadership across Anambra State, particularly in Anambra West, as his motivation. His entry into the party is seen as a major boost, not only in terms of political influence but also in consolidating APGA’s grassroots support.
The event witnessed the presence of key APGA leaders, led by the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, who emphasized that the presence of top APGA leaders at the event signified the party’s readiness to consolidate its hold on Anambra West ahead of future elections.
The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters and Community Affairs,Chief TonyCollins Nwabunwanne was in attendance; and acted as co-host.
Mazi Ejimofor Opara, the National Publicity Secretary of APGA, who represented the National Chairman, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, hailed Onuorah’s defection as a significant political gain, noting that his influence, financial strength, and strategic network would further bolster the party’s grassroots mobilization efforts.
Also present was Hon. Paul Uzor, the State Deputy Chairman, who reiterated that Onuorah’s decision to join the party was a testament to APGA’s growing acceptability and the party’s dedication to grassroots development.
In her remarks, the State Woman Leader, Esther Onyekwere, and the State Youth Leader, Obiadi, commended the businessman for identifying with a party that prioritizes people-oriented policies, while State Secretary, Livi, described his membership as a “game-changer” for Anambra West politics.
The event also attracted Hon. Chinedu Obidigwe, a former House of Representatives member for Anambra East/West Federal Constituency, who praised Onuorah’s long-standing commitment to community development and APGA’s progressive ideology.
