
The Women’s Wing of Umudora Anam Development Union (UDU) on Saturday, 30 August, presented a classic portrait to Dr. Bobmanuel Okonmah in recognition of his outstanding philanthropic contributions to the community, church, individuals, and various groups.
The presentation was made during an APGA rally and Otite Anam celebration hosted by Dr. Okonmah in Umudora Okpala Ukwu Anam. The women were led by Mrs Felicia Obidike, Mrs Rose Ajie, Mrs Felicia Obidike, Mrs Amaka Okonkwo and Mrs Unoma Cyril-Anekwe, who celebrated Dr. Okonmah as both “son and husband.” They acknowledged his deep-rooted connection to Umudora Anam and his unwavering commitment to uplifting others.
Speaking, the women collectively praised Dr. Okonmah’s multifaceted approach to community development, highlighting his support for educational initiatives, healthcare programmes, and religious activities. “Dr. Okonmah has consistently demonstrated that true leadership lies in service to others. His work through the Akalaka Foundation has touched countless lives in our community and beyond,” they stated.
The Akalaka Foundation, established by Dr. Okonmah has been instrumental in supporting widows and the downtrodden in society. The foundation focuses specifically on providing assistance to vulnerable women who have lost their husbands and others facing challenging circumstances in rural communities across Anambra State. Recent initiatives include providing financial support, skills training programmes, and basic necessities to help these disadvantaged groups rebuild their lives.
Dr. Okonmah, visibly moved by the gesture, expressed gratitude to the women’s group for their recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to community service. “This honour belongs not just to me, but to every person who has supported the vision of creating positive change in our society,” he remarked.
The Umudora Anam Development Union, established to foster unity and development amongst indigenes of the community, has been actively involved in various socio-economic projects.
The portrait presentation adds to Dr. Okonmah’s growing list of community honours cementing his reputation as a dedicated advocate for social development and human empowerment in the region.
