The transition committee chairman, Oyi Local Government Area, Anambra State Hon. Emma Nweke, today hosted delegates from Umunya Regent in Council led by their chairman and the Regent of Umunya, Ichie Mike Ubaka, Ezeude Nke Iteghete of Umunya.
They were on a familiarity visit to the newly reconfirmed TC chairman at his office in Oyi LGA secretariat, Nteje.
Hon. Nweke said he had a wonderful time with them because they used the opportunity to share ideas on possible partnership which would help catalyse developments in Umunya, in particular and Oyi LGA, in general.
He said, “traditional institutions are very vital in governance and community development, hence the need to preserve them.
“I congratulate the new Regent of Umunya and his council members including Chief Sunday Udebunu, Ichie Akajiugo n’Abo Umunya and pledged my readiness to work with them to strengthening our traditional institutions and upholding our culture.
“On December 29, 2023 for the first time in the history of our local government, we held Oyi local government Cultural fiesta where we partnered with all the traditional stools in Oyi to showcase our rich cultural heritage.
“In this our second coming, we are determined to do more, to sustain our culture and preserve our traditional institutions. We’re creating Oyi of our dreams” he stated.
