Anambra State governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has paid NABTEB GCE and Technical examinations fees for 44 inmates of Onitsha Correctional Center.
The Governor took the measure in fulfilment of his promise that inmates should be equipped to leave as better citizens of the society after serving their terms.
Governor Soludo was represented at the cheque handing over meeting by the Honourable Commissioner for Education in the state, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-udeh. A total of N1,220,000 was given to the inmates.
Prof. Udeh who confirmed that the gesture was in keeping with the Governor’s resolve to making inmates better citizens after service enjoined the beneficiaries to make maximum use of the opportunity to better their lots.
Responding after receiving the cheque, the Controller of Nigeria Correctional Service, Anambra State Command, Usifo E, thanked the governor for the donations.
