The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has commended the road projects of Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, describing it as superb and will reduce road accidents.
The commendation follows Governor Soludo’s award of over four hundred kilometres of road constructions across the three senatorial districts of the Anambra State in less than two years of his administration. Most of the roads which are very strategic have been completed while many are still at various stages of completion.
The sector Commander said one of the things that make people go above the speed limit is when they are delayed due to bad roads, saying that when the roads are bad, motorists encounter delay in travel time.
“If the roads are good, people can plan their travel and there will be no need to over speed” he said. “I believe that road construction and rehabilitation will ensure. road safety because they will help to curb speed violation and crashes on our roads.”
The FRSC Anambra sector Commander, Mr Adeoye Irelewuyi, made the commendations at the flag-off of the 2023 Ember Months Safety Campaign held in Onitsha. It was tagged: “Speed thrills but kills; Drive responsibly and avoid overloading.”
Also speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Transportation, Barr. Patricia Igwebuike, said that Governor Soludo strongly believes that road safety is a collective effort of the government and the road users.
