Once the election is over, an elected representative’s primary responsibility is to serve all constituents, regardless of their political party affiliation. Chief Peter Aniekwe, representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency, is fast becoming a shining example of this principle in action.
Aniekwe, popularly known as MacPee, is putting-in all the necessary efforts to improve the lives of his constituents by providing support to the less privileged, including skills acquisition and empowerment programs, financing education, fostering entrepreneurship, and rendering assistance to women, youths, and children.
This festive season, one of his notable philanthropic deeds is the distribution of 3,000 bags of 10kg rice, 900 bags of fertilizers, and farming tools to his constituents. This gesture not only provides immediate relief but also empowers the recipients to improve their livelihoods. Additionally, he has been providing cash support to those in need, demonstrating his dedication to alleviating poverty in his constituency.
Earlier, he provided solar-powered electricity to some communities, showcasing his dedication to improving the quality of life for his constituents.
So far, reports show that these deeds are not limited to his political party members but extended to all his constituents. Such understanding, efforts and commitments should be openly commended. That way, when there are mis-steps, it will be normal to also criticize, constructively.
It’s heartwarming to see elected representatives live up to their responsibilities and serving their constituents with dedication and passion. Selfless service is a testament to the positive impact that effective leadership can have on communities.
