2025: Why Opposition Against Soludo Will Fail, Progressives Are One, APC Chieftain Endorses His Achievements and Leadership Philosophy

In Nigeria’s political landscape, ideological differences often take centre stage, yet one undeniable common word binds the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)—Progressivism.

While APC controls the federal government, APGA has remained the dominant force in Anambra State, setting the pace for governance and development. Despite their distinct political structures, both parties share a commitment to progressive policies, infrastructural transformation, and economic growth.

At the state level, APGA is more than just a political party in Anambra; it is the political institution that defines governance. Under APGA, the state has maintained a unique identity in Nigerian politics, choosing pragmatic engagement over blind opposition. Governor Chukwuma Soludo embodies this approach, advocating collaboration with the federal government rather than antagonism for its own sake. His leadership philosophy is anchored in results, not rhetoric.

This was underscored by an unexpected voice—Engr. Dave Umahi, Minister of Works and former Governor of Ebonyi State. In a declaration that has caused ripples across political circles, Umahi not only praised Soludo’s governance but also made a statement that many consider politically defining.

Umahi’s Confession: A Powerful Endorsement of Soludo’s Transformational Leadership

In a rare moment of bipartisan acknowledgement, Umahi openly commended Governor Soludo for his incredible and measurable achievements in Anambra. As a former governor who spearheaded an infrastructural revolution in Ebonyi and now oversees major road projects across the country, Umahi’s endorsement carries significant weight.

He described Soludo’s approach to governance as exemplary, highlighting the governor’s high standards in road construction, his administration’s urban renewal efforts, and the efficiency of his Solution Team. Umahi also praised Soludo’s security and governance model, which has stabilized Anambra, and pointed out the historic milestone of constructing a befitting government house and governor’s lodge after 34 years of neglect. He further emphasized Soludo’s investment in human capital development, a critical pillar for any progressive government.

Beyond these praises, Umahi made a statement that has left political analysts talking. In what many see as a masterstroke in statesmanship, he advised opposition figures in Anambra, including those from his own party, to “save their energy” instead of contesting against Soludo in the upcoming gubernatorial election. This was more than just a compliment; it was a tacit admission that Soludo’s transformative work has positioned him as politically untouchable.

What This Means for Anambra Politics

Umahi’s remarks reinforce an undeniable reality: leadership that delivers tangible results transcends political affiliations. When a sitting federal minister from the APC, a party that traditionally opposes APGA in Anambra, publicly acknowledges Soludo’s outstanding governance, it confirms that APGA’s progressive leadership in the state is beyond partisan politics.

It also cements Soludo’s reputation as a transformative leader whose governance model is setting new benchmarks. His administration’s commitment to progressive policies aligns with the broader national vision of economic growth, infrastructural expansion, and human capital development—principles that both APGA and APC uphold at their core.

As Anambra moves toward the 2025 gubernatorial election, Umahi’s endorsement sends a powerful message: when leadership is built on visible progress and concrete results, even the opposition recognizes that resistance is futile. In Anambra, Soludo’s progressive agenda continues to speak for itself.
