In a passionate display of support for Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s re-election bid, Hon. Chief Benjamin C. Obidigwe, a former member of the House of Representatives for Anambra East and West Federal Constituency, reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the governor’s second-term aspirations. Speaking at an APGA stakeholders’ meeting held in Anambra East Local Government Area on March 29, 2025, Obidigwe, also known as Akaoma Jide Aku 1 of Aguleri, emphasized Soludo’s outstanding leadership and prudent governance, particularly in delivering the dividends of democracy to Anambra State, with a special focus on Anambra East.
Obidigwe, who has been at the forefront of rallying support for Soludo, underscored the governor’s immense contributions to the state. He highlighted that Soludo’s administration had made significant strides in fostering development across Anambra, especially within the Anambra East Local Government, which deserved to continue benefiting from his leadership. As such, Obidigwe urged all stakeholders to lend their unreserved support to the governor in the upcoming November 2025 elections, noting that Soludo’s achievements spoke volumes about his ability to take Anambra to greater heights.
Before his role as a key organizer for the Soludo re-election campaign, Obidigwe was the first to mobilize Anambra youths in an open campaign, urging Soludo to contest for governor in his first term. His early advocacy played a pivotal role in generating widespread grassroots support, which ultimately contributed to Soludo’s victory. Now, as the governor seeks a second term, Obidigwe has remained resolute in his efforts to consolidate that support, ensuring that the re-election campaign continues to gain momentum across the state.
During the stakeholders’ meeting, which was attended by key political figures, Obidigwe welcomed members of other parties, including some from the Labour Party and the PDP, who had defected to APGA in support of Soludo’s re-election bid. Among the new members were prominent figures like Chief Johnny Mechie, Chief Dan Ekweefi, and Dr. Chinedu Anukwu, all of whom expressed their endorsement of the governor’s leadership and developmental agenda.
In his remarks, the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency Dr. Onyekachi Ibezim urged the people of Anambra East to reflect on the positive impact of Soludo’s governance. He commended them for their steadfast support of the administration and reassured them that more development projects were in the pipeline, particularly in infrastructure and public services.
The meeting also saw the attendance of several influential leaders within the state, including Hon. Engr. Julius Chukwuemeka, Commissioner for Power and Water Resources; Chief Primus Odili, former Chief of Staff to Governor Obiano; Chief Marcel Ifejiofor, former Commissioner for Works; and Hon. Obi Nweke, the Member representing Anambra East in the State Assembly. These leaders collectively reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Governor Soludo’s second-term bid.
Further enhancing the significance of the meeting was the presence of Barr. Ifeatu Obiokoye, the hardworking state chairman of APGA. His leadership and dedication to party unity were praised by all present. Additionally, Barr. Ezeokenwa Jr. Sly, the APGA National Chairman, was commended for his exemplary role in ensuring that the party continued to thrive under Soludo’s good governance philosophy.
The successful gathering, which brought together both current and former executives from Anambra East’s 15 political wards, exemplified the strength and unity of APGA in the region. With an emphasis on party loyalty and a collective drive for Soludo’s second term, the meeting served as a critical step toward ensuring that the governor’s re-election campaign remains on course for success in November 2025.
As Hon. Obidigwe stated that Soludo deserves not only the support of Anambra East but also the full backing of Anambra North and all constituents across the state. His prudent leadership, commitment to development, and efforts toward building an inclusive and prosperous Anambra make him the clear choice for a second term in office.
