The immediate past governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has regained his freedom after spending close to one week in detention. Obiano was arrested on his way to USA by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The Akpokuo Global as he is widely called, regained his freedom though his passport remains with the anti-graft agency. He had since returned to his country home and into the waiting hands of his kits and kin.
Meanwhile, the Senator representing Anambra North senatorial zone, Princess Stella Oduah has debunked rumours of her planning to return to People’s Democratic Party (PDP). According to Oduah, the rumours are mere politically motivated falsehoods masquerading as facts.
In a statement by her Media/Publicity Director, Ezennia Nonso Chukwudebe, the Senator is currently focused on betterment of lives of ndi Anambra North. It reads; ”Our attention has just been drawn to a story currently doing the rounds on social media, to the effect that the Distinguished Senator representing Anambra North, Princess Stella Adaeze Oduah OON, has defected to the PDP and we want to use this medium to debunk it in all its entirety as it is simply not true.
”To be clear, what is most crucial to the Distinguished Senator is utilizing every leverage at her disposal to better the lives of ndi Anambra North by mainstreaming the development of her human capital resources. The public is hereby advised to discountenance these stories as they are mere politically motivated falsehoods masquerading as fact.”
Earlier, Oduah offered to sign former Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano’s bail bond if one of the conditions for his bail stipulates that a Senator from Anambra State will sign.
EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, at an event in Abuja said Obiano would be freed to go once he meets their bail conditions for him, but didn’t mention them. Strong speculations were that it may include, a Senator from his State; two Directors from Federal Ministry with Landed Property in Abuja, etc. According to source, Senator Oduah has decided to focus on love and not hate as widely promoted against the former governor. She is volunteering to do this on the grounds that Obiano is among her constituents and also an illustrious son of Anambra State.
Commenting on the gesture, Chinedu Obigwe of APGA Media Warriors Forum said: ”This is honestly kind of Senator Stella Oduah and I thank her immensely for that but unfortunately, former Governor Obiano bail conditions did not stipulate that a Senator from Anambra will sign his bail bond. ”As a matter of fact the bail conditions has been perfected and he will soon return home to the waiting hands of his numerous fans and well wishers” Obigwe said.
