Former Majority leader, Anambra State House of Assembly, Dr. Victor Okoye, has congratulated the Labour Party candidate, Hon. Peter Aniekwe, MacPee on his victory at the just concluded National Assembly elections.
MacPee was overwhelmingly elected to represent the Anambra East/West Federal Constituency at the Green Chambers of the National Assembly.
This is coming after several days of speculations of what would be the next move of Dr. Okoye after losing at the polls. Recall that Okoye had before the election, taken MacPee to court over educational certificates issues but later withdrew the matter at the intervention of some elders, according to the former legislator.
Dr. Okoye, alias Obatobie who was the candidate of All Progressives Congress, (APC), candidate in the same election, while felicitating with Aniekwe popularly known as MacPee said, “To God be the glory. I, on behalf of Myself, Family, and Campaign Team, heartily felicitate with my brother and political associate, Chief (Hon) Peter Udeogala Aniekwe who was declared the winner of the Anambra East/West House of Representatives election held on 25th February 2023 by INEC.
“As I rejoice and congratulate you, I pray that God Almighty would protect you and our mandate. I also pray that God multiplies His wisdom, favour and connection upon you, for the overall good of our dear Anambra East/West.”
Obatobie who recently acquired a doctorate degree advised MacPee to remember that to whom much is given much is also expected from him.
“Macpee, I sincerely wish you the best of tenure as you begin a ride towards your new political endeavour” he stated.
Obataobie’s advice for MacPee to guard the mandate with all his strength is understandable, following the loss of similar mandates by Hon. Ralph Okeke and Mr. Lawyer Mmeze through the court in the past.
Besides, many stakeholders are advising MacPee not to take anything for granted by ensuring that he assembles the best constitutional and electoral laws lawyers in case anyone decides to challenge his victory in the court and claim the mandate through the back door. They advised him to be wary of “Jankara market court judgements” that are available for the highest bidder in Nigeria. He is also advised to ensure that he has the best professional media hands, documenting and telling the world, particularly, his constituents, all they need to know about his engagements and efforts, on a regular basis.
