Tweeters have lambasted the publisher of SaharaReporters, Mr. Omoyele Sowore for posting a video concerning the conflict at parts of Niger Delta without confirming its authenticity. Sowore later found the video was an old one, deleted it and apologised.
Reacting to the tweet on his “X” Ogbeni Abbey, stated “Sensational and political journalist isonu. If Nigeria had burned because of that video, na so you go just apologize? You have lost your relevance.”
Samuel andero: “Sowore failed politically, his journalism career is in jeopardy. I expect him to fight US police as he os doing in Nigeria.”
Kayode tweeted, “You failed to do due diligence before you tweeted. Imagine the damage your tweet might have caused on the other side.
“Nigeria is on the brink and there is need for someone like you to be more responsible with the type of information you ditch out.”
Meanwhile, the reactions followed a tweet by Sowore where he noted: “I deleted my earlier videos that showed a burning village in the Niger Delta region that was purportedly from reprisal attacks against Okuama community by the Nigerian Army @HQNigeriaArmy upon new evidence that this was from an old different incident in Nembe, Bayelsa state.
“I apologise for the wrong video. However, I insist that the Nigerian Army @HQNigeriaArmy desist from further reprisal attacks against innocent civilians in Okuama and any other settlement in the Niger Delta region, I call for an impartial investigation to unravel the real culprits involved in killing Nigerian soldiers Okuama.
“The Nigerian Armed forces must refrain from further reprisal attacks against villages in the area. #RevolutionNow.”
The man who calls himself “tableShaker” Reno Omokri tweeted: “Now that the supposed video of the Nigerian Army burning Okuama community in Delta State has been proven to be false, shouldn’t all those who shared the video apologise and accept that they have an anti-Nigerian bias fed by unpatriotic and dishonest rogue media, like Arise TV and Sahara Reporters, and purge themselves of their predisposition to disbelieve the truth about Nigeria and believe lies?”
