Newly appointed Transition Committee chairman of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Anambra State, Mr. Mbazulike Iloka has been suspended over alleged killing of his wife, Mrs Chidiebere IIoka.

The Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Chief Tony-collins Nwabunwanne, in the suspension letter dated August 11, stated that Mr. Iloka who was appointed few days ago, must vacate the seat not later than August 12.
The letter with reference number MLG/AD/183/Vol. IV/156 reads: ” Following the sad and sudden death of your wife, Mrs Chidiebere IIoka on August 7, there has been massive public outcry over the circumstances leading to her death, including possible homicide.
“While you are presumed innocent until the completion of investigations, it has become imperative that you should step aside to allow for unfettered investigation and justice.
“Consequently, you are directed to step aside and hand over the affairs of the Local Government to the head of Local Government administration not later than August 12.”
