Authority 91.9FM, a radio station in Nnewi, Anambra State, has banned the use of its platform for broadcast of programmes that promote money rituals and other acts that do not glorify God. In a press statement issued recently by the station owned by a business mogul, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, the board and management announced the ban of Mr. Onyedika Okocha, popularly known as Onyeze Jesus from broadcasting on its platform over alleged indecent exposure like bathing naked adults in a river, propagation of superstitious fallacies including money rituals and contravention of NBC Broadcast laws.
“Having meticulously reviewed and investigated the several complaints about Onyeze’s unrestrained conduct on broadcast and social media, the management of Authority FM deemed it fit to ban his radio programme indefinitely” it stated.
Also, the board and management further suspended the “Igbo Love themselves radio programme” owned by Nze Mathias Ezeaku for blasphemy and burning the Holy Bible in a viral video. According to the suspension letter dated February 9, 2022, the management stated that they received several complaints from listeners and customers who consider his behaviour as “a blasphemous act and vile disregard for their Christian belief/doctrines. Hence, the decision to indefinitely suspend the radio programmes.”
The letter further stated: “Conclusively, the board and management of Authority FM wish to restate its unwavering commitment to the ideals of civility, decorum and morality as it remains committed to redefining the paradigm of credibility and excellence while providing the right blend of services and efficiency backed by a well-trained management and staff who provide exceptionally efficient media services to customers.”
