The Labour Party candidate for Anambra East/West Federal Constituency, Hon. Peter Aniekwe (MacPee) has said that the ANAP Foundation poll report predicting Mr. Peter Obi as the winner of next year’ presidential election is a testimony that the “Obidient movement” is an idea whose time has come, and nothing would stop it.
Obi had in an ANAP poll garnered 21 percent of the votes ahead of Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar, candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), respectively, who tied in second place with 13 percent of votes. Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) came a distant fourth “with 3% of voters proposing to vote for him”.
While reacting to the report, MacPee reiterated that the Obidient Movement remains devoid of religious, tribal and geographical inhibitions, stating that with the report some lessons have been picked on some vital areas for more efforts.
Aniekwe agrees with Obi’s position, that, “Taking back Nigeria which is the unmistaken goal of the Obi-Datti candidacy is a task that must be done if we still desire a strong country and it should involve everybody of all class and creed who are pained by the state of our dear nation. All efforts therefore must be to bring all progressive minds onboard.”
Obi had said, “Even if we have grey areas in the report, our responsibility is to pick the lessons therein and remain focused with our eyes glued to the ball while noting the credibility of the organization (ANAP Foundation) that conducted the survey.”
MacPee said that what is expected at the national level must be the mindset of Anambra East/West voters who are no longer happy with the state of things and urged them to align completely with the movement. He promised that working with all strata of authorities ranging from federal, state and local government would not be a problem as every effort must be made to ensure that the area is developed to be at par with other parts of Nigeria.
