As part of the Solution Agenda, the Transition Committee chairman, Anambra West LGA, Hon. Felix Ikechi, Tuesday, commissioned Reticulated Solar-powered Water Borehole in Igbedor, Olumbanasa.
Following the completion and commissioning of the water project, the residents went into wild jubilation, singing praises of the TC chairman and the Solution governor for bringing democracy dividends closer to them.
During his speech, the TC chairman expressed delight at the completion of the project. He noted that it was part of his administration’s commitment to providing potable drinking water to the people under the Anambra West Integrated Development Strategy.
“I am happy to commission this borehole today,” he said. “This is another milestone in our quest to provide clean and safe drinking water to our people. We have done this in Umuoba-Aboegbu, Owelle, Inoma and Ukwalla communities, Abiator farm settlement in Umuikwu Anam and now igbedor.”
He said the borehole was equipped with high-efficiency solar panels that could harness the abundant sunlight to generate electricity; adding that its renewable energy source ensures continuous and eco-friendly drinkable water supply.
The Anambra West Mayor further said that his administration was committed to ensuring that every community in Anambra West has access to potable drinking water. He thanked Governor Chukuwma Soludo for his commitment towards making the local council liveable, secure and prosperous. He urged ndi Anambra West to keep praying and supporting the present government for more dividends of democracy.
He therefore appealed to the community to take ownership of the project to ensure its sustenance, promising that his administration would continue to partner with communities to ensure that more social amenities are attracted and delivered.
Some of the resident who spoke to the press, including Mr. Obulum James, Barr. Kenneth Obulum and APGA woman Leader of Anambra West, all expressed gratitude to Governor Soludo for keeping to his promise, when he visited the community few months ago. They noted that with the project, they can now have access to clean and safe drinking water.
They described the solar-powered water borehole as a beacon of hope and a testament to the council’s dedication to improving the community’s welfare, pledging total commitment and support to the present administration of Governor Soludo led administration to achieve more success.
Highlight of the ceremony was the cutting of tape by the Transition Committee Chairman, Mr. Ikechi.
