In the heart of Anambra State’s Oyi Constituency, Hon. Innocent Ojike, affectionately known as “Ojicam,” has emerged as a dynamic and dedicated representative in the State House of Assembly. His tenure has been marked by a steadfast commitment to the welfare of his constituents and a proactive approach to legislative duties.
Hon. Ojike has been instrumental in facilitating community development projects, advocating for improved infrastructure, and ensuring that the voices of Oyi residents are heard at the state level. His efforts have significantly contributed to the socio-economic growth of the constituency, fostering an environment where businesses and individuals can thrive.
A notable moment in Hon. Ojike’s service was during the commissioning of the Chinua Achebe International Airport in Umueri. The airport, renamed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo in honour of the esteemed literary figure Chinua Achebe, stands as a testament to the state’s commitment to recognizing its cultural icons. Governor Soludo emphasized Achebe’s global impact, stating that the renaming was a fitting tribute to an individual who gave African literature an identity and a voice.
During the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Ojike expressed profound gratitude to Governor Soludo. Ojike (Ojicam), also expressed his appreciation to the governor for siting key developmental projects in Anambra North, saying it reflects a balanced and inclusive administration.
As someone who understands the customs and holds deep respect for the traditional institution, Hon. Ojike deliberately ensured he recognized the presence of the Anambra North Traditional Rulers at the historic event. Among those, he extended his pleasantries were Igwe (Dr.) Ben Emeka of Umueri, Igwe Chukwuemeka Eri of the Eri Kingdom, among others. Their presence underscored the cultural importance of the moment and strengthened the bond between governance and tradition.
Beyond the airport, Governor Soludo’s administration has initiated several developmental projects that have positively impacted Oyi Constituency and the broader Anambra North region. The government’s approval of N489.7 million for the installation of airfield lighting at the Chinua Achebe International Airport is one such example aimed at facilitating night landings and boosting the airport’s operational efficiency. Additionally, the airport has recorded impressive usage statistics, with approximately 4,000 flights and 250,000 passengers passing through in its first 23 months of operation.
Hon. Ojike has consistently lauded these initiatives, noting that they exemplify Governor Soludo’s vision for a progressive and inclusive Anambra State. He has emphasized that such projects not only elevate the state’s infrastructure but also serve as catalysts for regional development, job creation, and improved quality of life for the residents.
In his legislative role, Hon. Ojike continues to champion policies and programs that align with the developmental agenda of the state government. His collaborative approach with the executive arm underscores a shared commitment to advancing Anambra State’s growth and ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every corner of Oyi Constituency.
As Anambra State strides forward under Governor Soludo’s leadership, the synergy between the state government and dedicated legislators like Hon. Innocent Ojike remains pivotal. Their combined efforts are shaping a future where infrastructural advancements and socio-economic development go hand in hand, fostering a thriving environment for all Anambrarians.
