Few days ago, Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo visited Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe (NOCEN).
To Governor Soludo, the visit was a heartfelt homecoming. What many may not know is that Soludo’s teaching career began at NOCEN. He left a lucrative job at a blue-chip financial consulting firm to pursue a career in academia, showcasing his laser-like focus and commitment to his goals.
As he walked the familiar halls of NOCEN, memories of his early days as a young teacher must have flooded his mind. The nostalgia was palpable, a testament to the profound impact this institution had on shaping the man he is today. For Governor Soludo, NOCEN will always be more than just a school – it’s a reminder of where his passion for teaching first took root.
Interestingly, Governor Soludo also inaugurated a new governing council for NOCEN, tasking them with unlocking the institution’s full potential. He expressed his confidence in the team, led by Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, to drive meaningful change and position NOCEN as a leading institution for teacher education and professional development in Nigeria and beyond.
