…says being poor not same as being disorderly or reason for recklessness

Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, Tuesday, made a couple of unannounced visits to some sites in the Okpoko area of Ogbaru LGA.
During the visit, the govenor noted that the contractor handling road projects that were awarded over a year ago had proven to be incompetent, despite several periods of grace and the 50% mobilization fee paid.
“I have terminated their contract and ordered another contractor to be mobilized to the site to complete the nine (9) key roads we earlier flagged off in Okpoko” Governor Soludo said.
“While there, I was surrounded by a crowd of fruit and vegetable traders at the popular Coke Market. Together with them, I took a quick tour of the four (4) main quarters of the market, each showing various degrees of promise in line with our vision for what such a place should be.
“I have scheduled an urgent meeting with the market leadership where we will collectively decide the future of the market. Until then, the new fruits and vegetables market at Atani will remain a choice substitute and location for the traders.”
Governor who noted that governance was nothing without empathy, especially for the poor, however, stated that being poor was not the same as being disorderly, nor is it a license for recklessness.
