Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo has expressed his deep sadness and condolences to the families affected by the devastating stampede that resulted in the loss of several lives during a yuletide rice distribution event in Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area, Anambra State.

The incident has sent shockwaves throughout the community, leaving families and loved ones in mourning.

Governor Soludo, who sent his condelence, expressed his deep sadness and condolences to the families of the deceased, particularly the vulnerable individuals who lost their lives in this tragic incident.

In a statement, Governor Soludo said, “My heartfelt condolences go out to the families of the deceased… We have initiated a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the stampede and will work closely with relevant agencies to ensure that any negligence or lapses in safety protocols are addressed.”

The rice distribution event was intended to bring joy and relief to the community, but it ended in tragedy. The donated rice bags were meant to support those in need, but the stampede resulted in unnecessary loss of life.
