The governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has strongly condemned the brutal and senseless murder of Barrister Ifeanyi Iloakasia, a legal practitioner and the President General of Aguleri community. Iloakasia was attacked and killed alongside his client on Thursday, May 15, 2025, near the Agulu-Nanka boundary area of the state.
Reacting to the deeply troubling incident after receiving full briefing, Governor Soludo described the act as cowardly and barbaric, expressing his profound condolences to the bereaved family, associates, and the entire Aguleri community, who have lost a dedicated leader and a passionate advocate for peace.
The governor assured Ndi Anambra that despite the understandable concerns this development has generated, the state government is addressing the matter with utmost seriousness. He reiterated that security agencies are already on the trail of the perpetrators and will ensure they are apprehended and brought to justice without delay.
In a related development, Governor Soludo also commended the gallant efforts of security operatives who successfully repelled an attack on a security checkpoint in Isuofia on May 15, 2025. While the attack led to the unfortunate death of one brave officer, the governor noted that calm has since been restored to the area, and security presence strengthened to forestall further threats.
Governor Soludo extended his heartfelt sympathy to all those affected by these recent tragic events and reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to preserving the relative peace and security being enjoyed in the state.
He urged residents to remain alert and continue to support security agencies through timely information and community vigilance, as the collective effort to rid Anambra of criminal elements continues in earnest.
