The colourful ceremony held at Achalla, the local government headquarters, attracted an impressive turnout of party faithful, community stakeholders, traditional leaders, and political dignitaries from across the state.
The event, themed “The Homecoming of a Grassroots Leader”, was attended by top government officials and APGA stalwarts, including the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi; Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Dr. Alex Obiogbolu; Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Pius Okoye; Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Chief TonyCollins Nwabunwanne; Mayor of Anambra West LGA, Hon. Fidelis Nnazor; Mayor of Idemili North, Hon. Stanley Nkwoka; and the revered Traditional Ruler of Achalla, Igwe Ositadinma Sunny Nwokedi, Eze Oranyelu, Uthoko Na Eze Achalla VI.
Also in attendance was the APGA State Chairman, Barr. Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, alongside thousands of enthusiastic youths, women, and men from all corners of Awka North.
The massive turnout was a testament to Hon. Nwokoye’s enduring popularity and sterling performance during his tenure in the House. Widely respected for his hands-on approach and deep connection with grassroots communities, Nwokoye was instrumental in pushing through motions and bills that addressed rural infrastructure, education, and youth empowerment in Awka North. He championed health outreach programs that reached over 3,000 constituents.
In his emotionally charged address, Hon. Nwokoye expressed gratitude for the warm reception and declared that his return to APGA was a reaffirmation of his belief in the party’s philosophy of onye aghana nwanne ya (let no one be left behind).
“I have come back home. APGA is my political root. I left briefly, but now I have returned, stronger and more committed to the vision of our hardworking governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo,” Nwokoye declared.
He further pledged to work assiduously to strengthen Awka North as an ever reliable APGA stronghold.
“In 2025 and beyond, we shall deliver more votes than ever before. Our people are ready. We will give Soludo and APGA a margin that will shock the opposition,” he assured.
Chief TonyCollins Nwabunwanne described Nwokoye’s return as “a strategic gain for the party and a major boost to community mobilization,” noting that his grassroots strength and accessibility make him a leader the people trust.
The APGA State Chairman, Barr. Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, in his speech, said Nwokoye’s rejoining the party is proof that APGA remains the only party deeply rooted in the hearts of Ndi Anambra.
“This is not just about a politician returning home. It is about a movement gathering strength. With Hon. John Nwokoye back, the future of Awka North in APGA is not only secure—it is golden,” Obi-Okoye stated.
Traditional Ruler of Achalla, Igwe Nwokedi offered royal blessings and praised Nwokoye for always maintaining close ties with his people.
The event climaxed with cultural performances, dances, solidarity speeches from various stakeholders, and the symbolic presentation of APGA regalia to Hon. Nwokoye, signalling his full reintegration into the party fold.
As Anambra State approaches the next election cycle, political analysts believe Nwokoye’s return to APGA may tilt the scale decisively in the party’s favor, particularly in Awka North, where he continues to enjoy overwhelming grassroots support.
