The federal lawmaker representing Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency, Hon. Lady Maureen Chinwe Gwacham,
has completed the construction of a new block of classrooms at Boys High School Nteje, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The first-term House of Representatives member, who serves in the 10th National Assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), announced the completion of the educational infrastructure project as part of her constituency development initiatives.
“To the glory of God, we have successfully completed this earlier initiated block of classrooms in Boys High School Nteje, Oyi local government area, Anambra state,” Hon. Gwacham stated in her announcement.
The lawmaker emphasized that the classroom project represents part of her broader commitment to improving educational infrastructure across the Oyi/Ayamelum federal constituency. “This is part of our total resolve for a conducive learning environment for our children in Oyi/Ayamelum federal constituency. We are committed to spreading this gesture across the respective communities that make up our dear constituency,” she said.
This project marks a significant milestone for the legislator, who made history in the 2023 general elections when she emerged victorious in the Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency House of Representatives race. Gwacham polled 15,299 votes to defeat her closest rivals in the February 25, 2023 election, becoming one of only 17 women elected to the 10th National Assembly.
Prior to her political career, Gwacham established herself as an accomplished businesswoman and trade economist. Her transition from the private sector to legislative representation has brought a unique perspective to her approach to constituency development, particularly in educational infrastructure.
The lawmaker’s electoral victory was later affirmed by the Court of Appeal in November 2023, solidifying her position as the substantive member representing Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency comprises communities spread across Oyi and Ayamelum Local Government Areas of Anambra State. Nteje, where Boys High School is located, falls within Oyi Local Government Area and represents one of the key communities in the federal constituency that has now benefited from the legislator’s development initiatives.
The lawmaker has indicated that similar projects would be extended to other communities within the constituency as part of her legislative agenda focused on educational development and youth empowerment.
The new classroom facility is expected to improve learning conditions for students at the school and accommodate the growing student population in the area, directly addressing the infrastructure needs that have long challenged educational development in rural Anambra communities.
