Ezi Anam communities in Anambra West Local Government Area have commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for extending their road down to Ukwu-Ubili riverside, facing Akpaka around Onitsha. The communities, while expressing their appreciation, passionately appealed to the governor to complete the project to provide them with an alternative route, rather than relying solely on the Otuocha axis in Anambra East for movement.
The appeal was made during an inspection tour of road palliative projects at Nzam and Onono in Anambra West LGA, led by the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Chief TonyCollins Nwabunwanne. The tour also had in attendance the Mayor of Anambra West, Hon. Fidelis Nnazor, and his Deputy, Mrs. Nkiru Ndive.
Speaking on behalf of Umuikwu Anam, the President-General, Hon. Udekwe Lawrence, lauded Governor Soludo for his remarkable development strides across Anambra State, highlighting the improved security situation as a key achievement. He reassured the governor of the community’s unwavering support for his administration and a possible second term in office.
“The road extension to Ukwu-Ubili is a great step forward for our people. We are grateful to Governor Soludo for bringing this long-awaited development closer to completion. However, we urge him to see it through so that Ezi Anam communities can finally have an alternative access route instead of passing only through Otuocha,” Hon. Udekwe stated.
The community leaders emphasized that completing the road would enhance economic activities, improve transportation, and ease the movement of people and goods, particularly for farmers who often struggle to transport their produce to larger markets.
Chief Nwabunwanne, responding on behalf of the state government, assured the people that their concerns had been noted. He reiterated Governor Soludo’s commitment to rural development and infrastructural expansion, assuring them that the government is working strategically to improve road connectivity across Anambra West.
Also speaking, Mayor, Anambra West, Hon. Nnazor informed them that arrangements are in top gear for Pontoon services within the local government.
The tour also highlighted the ongoing road rehabilitation efforts in the local government, with officials reaffirming the administration’s determination to ensure no community is left behind in the development agenda.
