Ahead of the 2025 gubernatorial election in Anambra State, many characters are springing up, including those who could not win their party primaries in the last election.
Sadly, most of them think that attacking the incumbent governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo is the easy way to garner popularity that may change their “misfortune”.
Ordinarily, there is nothing wrong in offering constructive criticism. After all, freedom of speech is one of the many benefits of democracy as against autocracy. But criticism without offering constructive solutions is unproductive, mere political grandstanding and a waste of time, especially when it comes to governance.
Since he came to office, Governor Soludo has been working tirelessly to transform the state, and criticizing his efforts without offering alternatives doesn’t contribute to progress.
He has made significant strides in infrastructure development, education, and healthcare. He prioritized road construction and awarded over 261 kilometers of roads in the state.
In education, the recruitment of 5,000 teachers and upgrade of schools to improve education standards are not child’s play.
The administration launched initiatives to boost youth development and entrepreneurship with the 1youth2skills solution; targeting the empowerment of about 10,0000 youths with various skills.
In healthcare; he is upgrading hospitals, hiring medical personnel and activated Ministry of Health task force.
No doubt, insecurity is a national issue and Governor Soludo is determined to ensure that Anambra remains safe for all and sundry. But he needs the support and cooperation of everyone especially the stakeholders; not sabotage.
Therefore, instead of mere criticism, stakeholders should engage in constructive dialogue, offering solutions to complement Soludo’s vision for Anambra State. By working together, they can help create a more livable and prosperous homeland for all.
Let’s focus on building on the progress made so far and finding ways to address challenges collectively. After all, governance is a collective responsibility that requires collaboration and constructive engagement.
