A high-level delegation led by the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Chief Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, will convene a crucial stakeholders’ meeting in Asaba on Sunday to address declining voter registration amongst Anambra West communities.
The town hall meeting, scheduled for 12 noon at the Hall of Celebration on Okpanam Road, aims to reverse what organisers describe as a worrying drop in electoral participation among Ndi Anam communities residing in Delta State.
Chief Nwabunwanne will address concerns regarding Anambra West’s weakening electoral influence, which stakeholders say threatens the local government area’s political representation in state affairs.
The venue—located immediately after Topview Hotel, before Police Headquarters for those approaching from Interbua roundabout—is expected to host village chairmen from all eight communities in Anam, alongside residents from Asaba, Okpanam, Okwe, Ogwuashi Ukwu, Isele Azagba, Ugbolu and surrounding areas.
Anambra West Local Government Area, with headquarters at Nzam, includes Igala-speaking populations amongst its demographic composition.
Community leaders have called for maximum attendance, stating that important decisions affecting Anambra West’s political future will be taken at the meeting.
The gathering represents the most significant diaspora mobilisation effort yet undertaken by Anambra West stakeholders, as they seek to restore the local government’s electoral strength and ensure adequate representation in Anambra State politics.
