The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Chief TonyCollins Nwabunwanne, today participated in the commissioning of a new residence constructed for a widow by the Afamation Movement in Eziagulu Ekwuluobia community, Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Nwabunwanne praised the humanitarian initiative, describing it as a demonstration of community solidarity and compassion. The Commissioner specifically commended the movement’s approach to selecting the beneficiary, highlighting what he termed the transparent and credible process employed in identifying the recipient.
The quality of construction work also drew praise from the Commissioner, who lauded the engineers responsible for the project. He described their efforts as both quantitative and excellent, noting the professional standards maintained throughout the building process.
Beyond the immediate gesture of goodwill, Nwabunwanne took the opportunity to acknowledge the community’s political participation during the recent elections. He expressed appreciation for what he described as the overwhelming support the community demonstrated for the candidate representing the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the last electoral cycle.
The ceremony represents the latest in community-driven welfare initiatives across Anambra State, where local organizations increasingly take direct action to address housing challenges facing vulnerable residents. The Afamation Movement’s intervention highlights the growing trend of grassroots organizations filling critical gaps in social welfare provision.
The new home stands as both practical assistance for its beneficiary and a symbol of community cooperation, demonstrating how initiatives can deliver tangible improvements to residents’ living conditions while maintaining accountability through transparent selection processes.
