The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Chief TonyCollins Nwabunwanne, has made a clarion call to Anam people and other communities in Anambra West Local Government Area to return home en masse during the next gubernatorial election to deliver overwhelming votes for Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
Speaking during a high-profile mobilisation visit to Lagos, Commissioner Nwabunwanne emphasised that massive voter turnout for the incumbent governor would guarantee priority attention in developmental projects across the local government area. “The time has come for our people to show their appreciation for Governor Soludo’s commitment to transforming Anambra West,” Nwabunwanne declared. “A resounding electoral victory will translate directly into accelerated development for our communities.”
The Commissioner highlighted several verifiable achievements of the Soludo administration including ongoing infrastructure projects in Anambra West. Building on this track record, the Commissioner assured the gathering that several critical roads within Anambra West Local Government Area would receive urgent attention if the area delivers massive votes for Governor Soludo.
It is hoped that Nzam-Umuenwelum- Oroma-Etiti – Umudora – Umuikwu to Onono would receive attention. “These are not empty promises,” the Commissioner stressed. “Governor Soludo has demonstrated his commitment to infrastructural development across the state, and Anambra West will benefit immensely from this vision.”
The mobilisation visit featured prominent dignitaries, including the Mayor of Anambra West, Hon. Fidelis Nnazor; his deputy, Hon. (Mrs) Edith Ndive; Dr. Bobmanuel Okonmah and several other notable figures from the local government area. The delegation engaged with Anam indigenes and other community members residing in Lagos, emphasising the strategic importance of their participation in the upcoming election.
Addressing potential logistical challenges that could prevent diaspora participation, Commissioner Nwabunwanne assured the community that comprehensive transportation arrangements would be put in place to facilitate the mass return of voters. “We are committed to ensuring that distance and logistics do not become barriers to democratic participation,” he stated. “Special arrangements will be made to transport our people home to exercise their civic rights.”
The mobilisation effort comes as political observers note that Governor Soludo appears to be coasting to victory ahead of the November 8, 2025, gubernatorial election. The strategic focus on diaspora mobilisation underscores the administration’s determination to secure maximum electoral support from communities that have benefited from state development initiatives.
Nwabunwanne’s appeal reflects the broader strategy of linking electoral support to developmental benefits, an approach that has characterised the current administration’s relationship with local government areas across Anambra State. The Anambra West mobilisation represents a crucial component of the ruling party’s electoral strategy, particularly given the area’s significant diaspora population and potential to deliver substantial vote margins in the gubernatorial contest.
Local political analysts suggest that such targeted mobilisation efforts could significantly impact the overall electoral outcome, particularly in areas where infrastructure development has been a major campaign promise and delivery metric for the incumbent administration.
