The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Tonycollins Nwabunwanne, today commended His Royal Highness, Igwe Augustine Chijioke Oragwam, Ezeoranyelu III of Obeledu and the Obeledu people over their exploits in agriculture.
Nwabunwanne made the commendation during the New Yam Festival, known as Iwa Ji of Obeledu community. He applauded them for putting to practice the determination of the Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo to ensure food security in the state.
He acknowledged that the Obeledu people were really aligning with the footsteps of Mrs Nonye Soludo, who is also a farmer in her own way.
On a lighter note, he said that Obeledu people were seriously challenging the Anambra West people, usually regarded as the food basket in food production and encouraged them to keep it, for the benefits of all Anambrarians.
The event featured cash prizes for farmers who produced different sizes of yam as well as other cultural events.
