The Anambra Civil Society Network (ACSONet), a leading citizens’ advocacy group, has extended warm congratulations to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, on his third anniversary in office, marked on March 17, 2025.
In a statement signed by its leader, Prince Chris Azor, ACSONet commended Governor Soludo’s transformative leadership, describing his administration’s achievements as “remarkable progress across key sectors.” The group highlighted how the governor, in partnership with civil society through the Open Government Partnership (OGP), has championed transparency, accountability, and integrity in governance.
According to them, among Governor Soludo’s most celebrated accomplishments is the recruitment of over 8,000 teachers and the introduction of free education from primary to senior secondary school levels. “In the health sector, the engagement of over 1,000 health personnel and the provision of free antenatal and delivery services have benefitted over 60,000 women. Additionally, a state-of-the-art trauma centre is nearing completion.
“On infrastructure, the administration has made significant strides in urban renewal, notably transforming Okpoko from a slum into a modern city. The construction of over 500 kilometres of roads, with another 300 kilometres at various stages of completion, has improved connectivity across the state. Notably, Ekwulobia has emerged as a major urban centre with a modern overhead bridge and an extensive road network. The dualization of Amawbia-Agulu-Nanka-Ekwulobia-Uga-Akokwa Road is also in progress. Governor Soludo has also broken a 34-year jinx by constructing a new government house, comprising over 30 buildings, including the Governor’s Office and Lodge.
“Through the 1 Youth 2 Skills initiative, the government has upskilled approximately 30,000 young people, providing them with employable skills. Insecurity has also been tackled through the Agunechemba and Operation Udo Ga-Achi initiatives, which incorporate AI-compliant technology to enhance security operations.
“Remarkably, all these achievements have been accomplished without borrowing, a feat that has earned Governor Soludo multiple accolades. These include being named the Best State in Transparency 2024 by BudgiT Foundation, winning a $1.2 million prize at the 2024 Primary Health Care (PHC) Leadership Challenge for outstanding healthcare performance, securing the top ranking in fiscal viability and sustainability, and earning recognition as The Sun Newspaper Man of the Year and Independent Newspaper Man of the Year in Rural Development.”
While celebrating these milestones, ACSONet urged the governor to strengthen social protection policies, expand safety nets for vulnerable groups, and reinforce anti-corruption measures. The group also emphasized the need for sustained efforts in enhancing security, particularly in rural communities.
Reaffirming their unwavering support, ACSONet expressed confidence in Governor Soludo’s commitment to realizing the shared vision of a clean, green, prosperous, and secure Anambra State. “Big congratulations once again, Odenigbo Global!” the statement concluded.
