Transition Committee chairman, Awka North Local Government Area (LGA), Hon. Thankgod Anago has paid examination fees for 50 students selected from 10 communities in his LGA.
Hon. Anago who paid the examination fees in celebration of his 150 days in office also gave out funds for business start-ups and crops seedlings for agriculture.
A statement issued by his office, noted: “In furtherance of his desire to develop and deepen the human capacity potentials of people of Awka North Local Government Area, Hon. ThankGod Anago has paid the NECO, WAEC as well as JAMB examinations fees for over fifty (50) students with each of the ten communities in the council area having five (5) slots.
“He empowered over 50 indigent people of Awka North with start-up funds to go into various vocations as well as start their own businesses. This is as part of his human capital development efforts to complement Mr. Governor’s agenda of making Anambra State, the vocational hub of Africa.
“He also distributed thousands of palm and coconut seedlings in line with Governor Soludo’s agricultural revolution to make the state sufficient in food and agricultural production and boost its economy.
“He domesticated this agricultural vision of the Soludo-led administration with various extension programmes through the platform of Awka North LGA Value Chain Development Programme (VCDP). This is one of the sectors the Hon. Anago’s administration has committed so much resources and time because of the agrarian economy of the people of the council area.
“Above all, he has ensured a peaceful co-existence between farmers and nomadic herders in the council area, leading to an atmosphere of peace and security. This has in turn made it possible to have uninterrupted rice, cassava along with other staple foods supply in Awka North.
“Onye Olu Obodo Awka North is no doubt complementing Solution Government’s policy on human capital development and agricultural production at the grassroot level.”
