Transition Committee chairman, Awka North LGA, Hon. ThankGod Anago has warned against street trading, blockage of water ways, indiscriminate waste disposal and violation of environmental laws.
Hon. Anago insists that the State Environmental Laws must be implemented at Awka LGA in line with the Solution agenda of “Debe Anambra ocha”.
He warns, “People must clear their drainage systems and must not block the water ways by dumping materials on the newly constructed roads; and must not deface the aesthetics of the popular Amansea-Ebenebe road.”
He said the cleanliness of Awka North LGA is the responsibility of everyone. “Let’s support the drive for a better Awka North across communities in the council area” he said.
Meanwhile, defaulters have been arrested especially those who refused to clear their water ways that caused overflow and defaced the aesthetics of the popular Amansea-Ebenebe road.
They were handed over to the security agency and will face severe consequences for their violation of environmental laws.
