In a remarkable display of commitment towards promoting qualitative education and scientific advancement, the Transition Committee Chairman of Anambra West Local Government Area, Mr. Felix Ikechi has completed the renovation of severely damaged Christ the King Science Laboratory Building at Umuenwelum Anam.
The project, under the Anambra West Integrated Development Strategy was aimed at enhancing educational facilities, and is expected to provide students and educators with a conducive space to conduct experiments, research, and enhance their practical knowledge.
Speaking when he inspected the renewed structure today 21 November 2023, at the school premises, Mr. Ikechi disclosed that his administration would continue to follow the footsteps of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s agenda on qualitative education in the State.
He noted that the renewed laboratory science building will undoubtedly serve as a catalyst for academic excellence, fostering a spirit of innovation and critical thinking among the future scientist in Anambra West.
The Anambra West Mayor disclosed that renovation process involved repairing structural damage, installing modern laboratory equipment, and refurbishing the interior to create an inviting and functional space for students.
Additionally, measures were taken to ensure the building adhered to safety standards, guaranteeing the well-being of those utilizing the facility. These he believed would enhance the learning experience of the students, and greatly benefit their academic pursuits and improve the overall educational environment of the school.
Mr. Ikechi who said that the renewed project is anticipated to inspire a new generation of students to pursue scientific fields and contribute to the nation’s progress, and noted that what he did was to compliment the efforts of the Anambra State Government in education development.
He further said that the project reflects state government’s dedication to improving educational infrastructure across the local council and remained optimistic that further initiatives will follow, fostering an environment that encourages learning and innovation.
He commended Governor Soludo’s administration for its commitment towards qualitative education, adding that with the completion of the project, students and educators can now embark on a scientific journey filled with endless possibilities.
Mr. Ikechi took time to interact with the students, encouraging them to reciprocate government gesture by being serious with their studies so as to remain relevant in the emerging competitive world, while urging ndi Anambra West to protect Government’s properties in their domain to ensure its sustainability.
Earlier in her vote of thanks, the Principal of the school Mrs. Eunice Mbaegbu expressed gratitude to the State government for coming to their aid, and appealed for more teachers, most especially core subjects like mathematics etc.
President General of Umuenwelum Anam Community Mr. Charles Anijah commended Governor Soludo for the project, which he said represents a giant leap forward in the academic growth of the school and the community as a whole.
He then appealed for palliatives on Mmiata-Umunwelum Anam as well as Oroma-Umuenwelum roads so as to reduce the suffering the community encounter on those roads.
The Deputy Chairman, of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Anambra West chapter Engr. Fidelis Adinwoke who is an indigene of the community said that the present administration of Governor Soludo represents everything good for Ndi Anambra West, appealing for unalloyed support to his administration.
Mr. Ikechi also interacted with the NYSC members posted to the community, and promised to look into their challenges with a view to tackling them.
