Onitsha, Anambra State — February 6, 2025

The Anambra State Government has expressed profound grief over the tragic death of Hon. Justice Azuka, a distinguished member of the State House of Assembly representing Onitsha North State Constituency I.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, the government conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the Speaker and members of the State House of Assembly, the bereaved family, constituents, and all those affected by this tragic loss. “May his soul be granted eternal rest by the Lord,” the statement read.

In response to the incident, the government lauded the swift and effective operations of the state’s joint security task force, Operation Udo Ga-Achi. The strikeforce, launched on January 18, 2025, has been credited with multiple security successes, including the prompt apprehension of the criminals responsible for Hon. Azuka’s murder.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that justice is served swiftly and decisively against the perpetrators and any accomplices involved in the heinous crime.

“The government remains resolute in its mission to protect lives and property and ensure a crime-free Anambra State,” Dr. Mefor emphasized.

Calling for continued public cooperation, the statement urged Ndi Anambra to support ongoing security initiatives to create a safer, more secure, and prosperous state where residents and investors can thrive.

The late Hon. Justice Azuka was known for his legislative contributions and dedication to the progress of Onitsha North Constituency. His passing marks a significant loss to the people of Anambra State.

The government reiterated its resolve to build a secure environment for all, emphasizing that collaborative efforts between the public and security agencies are essential for sustaining peace and order.
