Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has urged the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) members to go ahead and win all the 21 local governments and 326 wards in the forthcoming local government elections.

Governor Soludo who gave the mandate today at a mega campaign rally held at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka said the other political parties failed to field considerable candidates for the election because they knew that “Anambra State is APGA and APGA is Anambra State”.

Prof. Soludo popularly known as “The Solution Governor” said that APGA is the only political party that fielded chairmanship and councillorship candidates in all the 21 local governments and 326 wards of the state.

According to him, “the other parties knew they do not exist in Anambra State that is why they fielded scanty candidates or no candidates at all.

“AA fielded one chairmanship and one councillorship candidate; Accord Party has four chairmen and three councillors; Labour Party fielded six chairmanship candidates and 12 councillors; NNPP fielded eight chairmanship candidates and 37 councillors; PDP has 18 chairmen and 228 councillors; ACB has one chairmanship and nine councillors; YPP has three chairmanship and 44 councillors, while ZLP has no candidate for chairmanship position but fielded four councillors. APC fielded no candidate in all the positions.”

He said that Anambra State voters have enough reasons to support APGA because they have seen its good works and will on Saturday, September 28 vote all the chairmanship and councillorship candidates of the party to ensure continuity and progressivism at all levels.

He said, “APGA is campaigning as an underdog even though it is the landlord. There is a consensus in Anambra that they could vote for anybody at the national level but it must be APGA at the state level.

” We are doing over 500km of roads, an average of 10km road every month; investing heavily in ICT and general human capital development;Empowering the youths, through 1youth2skills; broke the 33-year old jinx of building permanent Governor’s Lodge and Government house.”

He insists that APGA remains an indivisible political party despite distractions by certain individuals.

Chally Nwagbafor as he is also called, explained that the Supreme Court judgment made the conduct of the local government election “an emergency” that is why it has to be conducted now without wasting time.

In his speech, the national chairman of APGA, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa said APGA faithful should ensure they deliver 326 over 326 wards, not just 21 over 21 local governments because the forthcoming local government election will be a reflection of the 2025 governorship election and must be taken seriously.

Also speaking, a member of APGA Board of Trustees, Chief (Mrs) Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu said that no political party is in contest with APGA in the state and encouraged party faithful to keep supporting and voting the party to ensure democracy dividends at all levels.
