The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Chief TonyCollins Nwabunwanne, has categorically faulted allegations that he issued directives ordering traditional rulers to boycott a burial ceremony, describing the claims as “completely false and petty.”
The refuttal responds to a publication by certain Aif Media alleging that the Commissioner ordered traditional rulers and Presidents General to boycott the burial ceremony of the stepmother to the
APC governorship candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, in Osumenyi.
Commissioner Nwabunwanne stated that he had no knowledge of any such directive and emphasized that no official communication was issued from his office regarding the burial ceremony. Government sources describe the allegations as petty distractions from serious governance work.
The original publication claimed that traditional rulers were threatened with suspension for attending the ceremony but provided no documentation to support these allegations.
Government officials note that Governor Soludo is more committed to activities that will make Anambra far better and does not have time to interfere in the private activities of traditional rulers. The administration maintains that such petty allegations contradict the governor’s focus on developmental priorities.
Sources indicate that no restrictions were placed on traditional rulers’ attendance at private ceremonies, contradicting the publication’s central claims. The administration continues to respect traditional institutions while focusing on meaningful governance that benefits all Anambra citizens.
