As the 2025 Anambra governorship elections draw closer, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has described itself as the only stable political entity in the state, claiming that opposition parties are struggling to remain relevant.
Mazi Ejimofor Opara, the National Publicity Secretary of APGA, made this assertion in a statement issued from Abuja. He likened the state of opposition parties in Anambra to being in an “intensive care unit,” suggesting that they are barely surviving.
“What they planned for APGA is happening to them,” Opara said, implying that alleged schemes by certain groups to destabilize APGA had backfired, leaving the opposition parties in disarray.
According to him, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra has lost credibility, describing it as a “union of political perverts” with no cohesion. He also dismissed the Labour Party as an inexperienced group relying on luck to make any impact in the elections. On the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Opara refrained from detailed criticism but stated that the party was already “down and out of the ring.”
In contrast, he praised APGA and commended Governor Charles Soludo’s administration for its achievements over the past 34 months, describing the governor’s tenure as an example of “one good turn deserving another.”
Opara challenged critics to dispute his claims with “unassailable facts” while maintaining that APGA remains confident and proud of its position ahead of the upcoming elections.
