The Principal of Ado Girls’ Secondary School, Onitsha, Mrs. Chinelo Okocha, has hailed the successful conducted the 2025 WAEC Computer-Based Test (CBT) examinations at the school as a milestone in advancing quality and credibility of examination process in the country.

Mrs. Okocha, who made the disclosure while fielding questions with newsmen on the outcome of the exercise at Ado Girls Secondary School, Onitsha, also remarked that the introduction of WAEC CBT has proven to be not only innovative but also transformative as it would help to address challenges associated with examination in the country.

“CBT system eliminates human errors in marking and enhances the speed of result processing, ensuring candidates get accurate and timely feedback. With CBT, cases of malpractice are drastically reduced. The system promotes fairness and integrity, thereby strengthening the credibility of the WAEC certificate.

She further disclosed that by reducing dependence on paper, logistics, and physical examination scripts, CBT is more sustainable and environmentally friendly.

“Across the world, major examinations have embraced CBT. By adopting it, WAEC aligns Nigeria with international best practices in assessment and evaluation”, she stressed, adding that ‘exposure to digital testing equips our students with ICT skills and confidence, preparing them for higher institutions and global opportunities where digital literacy is a necessity.”

Okocha urged relevant stakeholders and policy makers to swiftly move towards transition to computer based test (CBT) examination. “I strongly encourage fellow principals and all stakeholders to embrace this innovation wholeheartedly. The WAEC CBT is not just an option—it is the way forward for credible, transparent, and globally competitive education in Nigeria.

“Our experience at Ado Girls’ Secondary School demonstrates clearly that the future of public examinations in Nigeria lies in computer-based testing. The smooth execution of this year’s WAEC CBT affirms that with proper planning and infrastructure, schools can easily adapt to this system” she adds.
