Political stakeholders and party faithful from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ifite Anam Ward, Mmiata, converged at the Mmiata Civil Centre on Saturday, July 26, to unanimously endorse Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s bid for a second term in the forthcoming gubernatorial election scheduled for November 8, 2025.
The gathering, which brought together key government officials and community leaders, witnessed the attendance of Hon. Ike Obiesili, Special Assistant to Governor Soludo on Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, alongside Hon. Mrs Edith Ndive, Deputy Mayor of Anambra West Local Government Area. The meeting also drew APGA ward executives, stakeholders, party members, and elders from Mmiata community.
During the deliberations, Hon. Obiesili urged residents to remain focused on supporting the governor’s re-election campaign, emphasising the need to reciprocate Soludo’s developmental achievements across Anambra West within his three-year tenure. “The people must shun every distraction and vote massively for Governor Soludo for a second tenure in order to pay him back with massive votes for the numerous developmental strides the Governor has brought to Anambra West,” Obiesili declared.
Hon. Mrs Edith Ndive reinforced this sentiment, charging constituents to support Soludo because “he has the people at heart” and noting that “Soludo never promised and fails.” Her remarks underscored the administration’s track record of delivering on campaign promises.
The ward leadership emphasised their collective resolve to speak with one voice in recognising Soludo as their preferred gubernatorial candidate. Community elders stressed that they would no longer be swayed by opposition parties’ campaign promises, having experienced tangible development under the current administration.
In a significant political development, the meeting witnessed the defection of Mr. Boniface Ogolo from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to APGA. Ogolo cited the “marvellous development brought by Governor Soludo in the entire State and Anambra West Local Government Area in particular” as his primary motivation for switching allegiance.
The new party member also commended the developmental efforts of Hon. Tony Collins Nwabunwanne, Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, describing him as his age mate and expressing his desire to facilitate further development in Anambra West through his party membership.
Following extensive discussions, the elders of Ifite Anam Ward formally adopted Governor Soludo as their consensus candidate for the forthcoming gubernatorial election, representing the collective will of the ward constituency.
Other prominent stakeholders in attendance included Chief Augustine Ezeolisa, Sir Anselem Ekwealor, Mr. Mike Ifeatu, Chief Mike Ndive, Chief Omekannia Cletus Okoye, Willie Dibor, and Nnaluo Udealor, the ward councillor. The presence of these community leaders underscored the broad-based support for the governor’s re-election bid within the ward.
The meeting concluded with a unanimous resolution to mobilise voters for the November gubernatorial election, positioning the ward as a stronghold for APGA and Governor Soludo’s second-term aspirations.
