‘APGA may explode after primaries’, concerned members raise alarm

Concerned members of All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA) have raised the alarm that the ruling party in Anambra State may be thrown into chaos unless transparent-democratic process is followed in the forthcoming primaries of the party. They warned the party leaders not to lend credence to an allegation of lack of internal party democracy, made about four years ago. They threatened to leave the party and work with the oppositions if candidates are imposed on the party without due process.

While raising concerns, most of the people who spoke on conditions of anonymity, told multichannels247.com also that the level of animosity being created in the campaign for the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives and the Senate seats, is capable of tearing the party apart and warned contestants and their supporters to thread with caution.

The respondents cited that in Anambra North particularly, the dimension the campaign is assuming between the camp of Chief Chinedu Obidigwe, representing Anambra West/East Federal Constituency and the out-gone governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, is alarming.

“There have been accusations of betrayal, accusations of ungratefulness, backstabbing, blackmailing and many other unimaginable allegations,” a source said. “In fact, there is an allegation of making a false video to discredit the opponents, whereby one of the camps was portrayed as visiting a shrine in pursuit of their objective.”

In Anambra West Constituency, tension is also mounting as two other aspirants in the same APGA seek to upstage the current member representing the area, Hon. Patrick Udoba. This is aside other contestants in other parties, like Mr. Ikechukwu Chukwudebelu, a lawyer and Ejiovo Albert, an information technology expert. The APGA new contestants are the immediate past Commissioner for Lands in the state, Hon. Bonaventure Enemali and Hon. Onyedika Chinwuba.

However, investigations showed that the aspirants are concentrating their campaign ad strategies on the 38-man delegates that will vote at the primaries and not engaging the general public with their unique selling points. In otherwords, what they will do or what they have done; how they will do it and other sundry issues.
