Her Excellency, Bishop (Dr.) Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, has been recognized by the United Nations (UN) 1000 African Women Network in New York for her outstanding contributions to humanitarian service, social development, and the empowerment of women and vulnerable groups. In acknowledgement of her impactful leadership, she was inducted as an automatic member of the network.

Representing her at the prestigious event was the Honourable Commissioner for Social Welfare and Community Development, Archbishop (Prof.) Margaret Ene-Ita, accompanied by Associate Professor Esther Archibong, Special Adviser to the Governor on National Social Investment Programme. Both representatives were also honoured and inducted into the network for their remarkable dedication to societal transformation.

Her Excellency has remained a pillar of humanitarian and social intervention, leading over 5,000 impactful projects through her NGO, Humanity Without Borders, and her advocacy platform, Team Mma Adiaha. Her interventions have touched countless lives, particularly in the areas of maternal and child healthcare, education, gender empowerment, and economic development. She has provided delivery kits to expectant mothers, launched back-to-school initiatives, and awarded scholarships to students, ensuring that underprivileged children have access to quality education. Her commitment to inclusion is evident in her work with persons living with disabilities, donating crutches, wheelchairs, and offering financial support to ensure their active participation in society.

Beyond healthcare and education, Her Excellency has spearheaded women’s empowerment initiatives, particularly in agriculture and economic development. Through public-private partnerships, she has advanced opportunities in aquaculture and livestock farming, ensuring that women have access to financial independence and sustainable livelihoods. She has also been at the forefront of efforts to combat child trafficking, promote women’s political participation, and support victims of gender-based violence.

Her influence extends to medical outreach programs, where she has facilitated free surgeries, consultations, and the distribution of medical and laboratory equipment to underserved communities. She has also championed social welfare by providing relief materials to the underprivileged, supporting orphanages and senior citizens, and organizing initiatives that promote women’s participation in sports. Her role in facilitating the Solemn Assembly in Cross River State further underscores her commitment to moral and social development.

Her Excellency’s global recognition is not new. At the 69th UN Convention on the Status of Women and Girls, she was celebrated for her relentless efforts in advancing women’s involvement in agriculture and economic growth. Across Cross River State and beyond, she is widely known as the “Essence of Life” and the “Humanity Champion,” a testament to her unwavering dedication to service.

A true symbol of strength and selflessness, Bishop (Dr.) Eyoanwan Bassey Otu remains a firm advocate of the People-First governance approach. She leads with honour, value, and substance, inspiring many to follow her path in humanitarian service and leadership.

Cross River State and the entire nation celebrate her well-deserved honour, recognizing her as a beacon of hope and an agent of meaningful change.

Congratulations, Your Excellency! The world stands with you!
