Awka— The House of Representatives member for Anambra East/West Federal Constituency,
Chief Peter Udeogala Aniekwe, Saturday met with the indigenes of Anambra West residing in Awka, Anambra State. Aniekwe, popularly known as Macpee, reassured his constituents of his commitment to serving them diligently.

During the meeting, Aniekwe emphasized the importance of prioritizing skill acquisition and civil service over the “get-rich-quick” mentality. He also reflected on his first year in office, explaining that he had been understudying the system to better understand how to meet his constituents’ needs.

Aniekwe assured the people that he would ensure Anambra East and West Federal Constituency receives all that is due to them under his representation. He also addressed concerns about his political affiliation, maintaining that there was no problem within the Labour Party, under which he was elected.

Regarding infrastructural development, Aniekwe assured the people that efforts were being intensified alongside Senator Tony Nwoye to ensure that the Otuocha-Nzam-Ibaji Federal Road project does not only receive more federal attention but is executed to highest standards. He appealed for patience, promising that every community in his constituency would get its fair share of development in due time.

The Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Community Affairs, Chief TonyCollins Nwabunwanne, affirmed his cordial relationship with Aniekwe despite belonging to a different political party from him. Nwabunwanne emphasized that his primary focus was delivering democratic dividends to the people, dismissing speculations about his interest in contesting for the House of Representatives seat. He reiterated his commitment to working with Aniekwe to ensure the development of Anambra West.

Mayor of Anambra East LGA, Hon. Ifeanyi Chinweze urged Aniekwe and other political representatives to collaborate in ensuring effective service delivery and fostering peace in the region. He particularly stressed the need for harmonious coexistence between Umuoji, Umuoba Anam, and Egbeagu, Aguleri communities, which had recently been embroiled in communal clashes. Chinweze emphasized that peaceful coexistence was essential for the development and progress of Anambra West.

Concluding the event, Chief Nnaemeka Chukwuemeka, chairman of the Anam People’s Assembly Awka branch, popularly known as Ike Anam, advised political officeholders to remember the transient nature of their positions. He urged them to use their current roles to empower others and leave lasting legacies.

The gathering reinforced the importance of unity, strategic leadership, and community development in Anambra West, setting a hopeful tone for future engagement between political leaders and their constituents.

Prominent indigenes of Anambra West were at the event.
