The Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, few days ago, joined former President Olusegun Obasanjo and other dignitaries to attend the DRC-Nigeria Business Council meeting held in Lagos.
Prof. Soludo who was the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria under Obasanjo’s administration said the council was established under the visionary leadership of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, with the support of President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and it was officially launched in November 2022.
According to him, “The council serves as more than just a meeting point; it is a transformative platform designed to unite African nations in pursuit of greater economic prosperity across various sectors.
“Its aim is to explore significant business and investment opportunities that can drive growth and innovation across our continent.”
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo who reiterated that he was not ready to part way with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)-Nigeria Business Council yet, expressed satisfaction with the report of the Council barely two years. As the patron of the council, Obasanjo said the impressive report would propel him to stay with the body.
The President of the DRC, Felix Tshisekedi is the co-patron of the council, which was formed to cultivate a conducive environment for investment and collaboration between the two countries.
The President of the Council, Dr. Nteranya Sanginga hinted that with the efforts of the body so far, “the African capital is on the rise as the Council is already a success. Africa will surely stand if we can work together.”
The Vice-Prime Minister of the DRC, Daniel Mukoko Samba President in his goodwill message from President Tshisekedi said that, “the President has a direct interest in the drive for a favourable investment climate from investors among the two great countries”.
On the reflection of the progress made by the Council, the Secretary, Amb. Robert ‘Leke Adebiyi highlighted several notable achievements that demonstrate the progress made.
