Ahead of Saturday’s local government elections, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), today, wrapped up its group campaign in Umueze Anam, Anambra West Local Government Area, Anambra State.

The campaign which took them through Olumbanasa, Ezi Anam and Ivite Anam communities started on September 18 till today that they toured Umuoba Abegbu, Mmiata and Umueze Anam communities.

At Mmiata, prominent indigenes of the community assured of APGA’s landslide victory. Former, House of Assembly aspirant, Chief Onyedika Chinwuba said that in Mmiata, there would be no contest between APGA and any other political party, because it is only APGA that they know.

Speaking also, former PDP chieftain, Augustine Ezeolisa who has joined APGA, said that Mmiata had enough reasons to vote APGA because the APGA chairmanship candidate is an inlaw to Mmiata and the deputy chairmanship candidate’s mother is from Mmiata and she is also married to their kinsman.

“Mmiata alone has 20 polling units and the whole of them will vote the APGA candidates,” Ezeolisa said.

Another APGA chieftain, Chief Emeka Ikwegbuo popularly known as Aska categorically stated that, “Any vote outside APGA is a wasted vote”.

Recounting several reasons ndi Mmiata should vote for APGA, the Special Adviser on LG, Chieftaincy and community Affairs, Chief Ike Obiesili reminded the audience that he hails from Mmiata and presently plays key role in the APGA government ably led by Governor Chukwuma Soludo. He stated that Mmiata had benefited immensely from Governor Soludo and must reciprocate by voting APGA candidates.

In his brief speech, while soliciting for support, the APGA chairmanship candidate, Hon. Fidelis Nnazor assured ndi Mmiata that as the chairman of Anambra West LGA, he would ensure that there will no longer be chaotic communal clashes in the local council.
He reminded them he is also their inlaw and have lots of Mmiata indigenes as friends.

On his part, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Matters, Chief Tonycollins Nwabunwanne said that he stands for balance, equity and fairness in power sharing between the Anam and Igala people of Anambra West.

At Umueze Anam, the member representing Anambra West Constituency at the State Assembly, Hon. Patrick Udoba, who hails from the community told his people that APGA is one. He recalled that when he contested his last election, the Igala people supported him and he would want his people, Umueze Anam to reciprocate the gesture.

Former member who represented Anambra East/West at the Green Chambers of the National Assembly, Chief Chinedu Obidigwe who joined party faithful at the campaign, aligned with Udoba and and other speakers. He urged Umueze Anam people to vote for APGA all the way.

Meanwhile, the high points of the event was when Engr. Anthony Uduaka received N.5m for house rent, to relocate to Awka because of the ugly experience he had recently where he was living. Also, a grandmother testified of how her daughter delivered at a hospital, free of charge, courtesy; Prof. Charles Soludo’s free antenatal and delivery initiative.

Earlier at Ezi Anam, Hon. Edwin Nnoruka Likeness, PRO, APGA, Umuenwelum ward received Shuttle bus gift from the Honourable Commissioner, Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community matters, Chief Tonycollins Nwabunwanne.

The gift was for being consistently hardworking and faithful to the party, APGA.
