The people of Anambra West Local Government Area, Anambra State have several reasons to support the continuity of the present administration led by Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, beyond party affiliation.
The support should not only be, by the members of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) where Governor Soludo is the national leader but by all indigenes of Anambra West.
Reasons majorly include that Governor has an undiluted commitment to development and community engagement. It takes a person with passionate heart to remember people that appear to be geographically disadvantaged like Anambra West.
For the records, Soludo is the first governor to visit Olumbanasa, an island town in Anambra West to see things for himself. The historic visit demonstrated his willingness to connect with all communities, regardless of geographical challenges. In fact, by visiting Olumbanasa, Soludo showed his dedication to engaging with diverse communities, fostering unity and addressing local concerns.
It is also on record that aside a 13km road started by former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, no other administration ever did one ruler of tarred road in Anambra West until Soludo came. Now, Soludo did not stop at repairing dilapidated old ones but started massive length of road that has now connected Nzam, the local government headquarters.
Now, the LGA staff go to work seamlessly from Umueze Anam with less stress; unlike some years back that they operated from a makeshift office at Umueze Anam.
He did not stop at that, he has rebuilt a befitting world class secretariat at Nzam; thereby providing a conducive atmosphere for the workers to engage in their day to day activities without much ado.
Before now, Anambra West held the unenviable record of the most neglected LGA in Nigeria, not only for not having tarred roads but also electricity. The ones that existed before the coming of Soludo were provided by individuals or through community efforts.
Today, the story is different. Many communities in Anambra West are already connected to the national grid
such that communities like Umueze and Oroma Etiti Anam enjoy regular electricity supply and lines in other communities not fully energized, will soon be done.
At the moment, a world class general hospital is sited and currently undergoing construction in Anambra West. This will no doubt give unfettered medical access to men, women and children who face health issues.
Also, an impeachable source informed this newspaper: multichannels247.com, that an Anambra West indigene, very close to the seat of power, is working assiduously day and night to ensure that the internal roads connecting Anambra West communities, are included in the budget. So that when they are done, there will be ease of movement within the communities.
Clearly, considering the governor’s determination to promote indigenous industries and empower local economies, Anambra West stands to benefit immensely when some of his initiatives become fully operational, especially in its area of comparative advantage which is agriculture.
Therefore, giving support to Prof. Chukwuma Soludo beyond party affiliation will demonstrate the acknowledgement of his good gestures so far. Ultimately, Anambra West LGA stands to benefit immensely from his initiatives at promoting progress and the simultaneous development of all parts of the state.
