The Transition Committee Chairman of Aguata Local Government Area, Dr Chibueze Ofobuike, has vowed to ensure that Aguata communities clinch all the prizes of the ongoing Plastic Waste Recovery Challenge (2.0).
Dr. Ofobuike made the decision when he joined the Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Engr Felix Odimegwu Ph.D, and numerous environment enthusiasts at the flag-off of the All Anambra Communities Plastic Waste Recovery Challenge (2.0).
The Challenge, flagged-off by the Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, is aimed at encouraging proper disposal and recycling of plastic wastes – in line with Governor Soludo’s agenda on environmental sustainability.
All across Anambra State, the target is to recover 100,000 tonnes of plastic waste whereas communities with exceptional recovery rate will be rewarded with ₦1,000,000, ₦500,000 and ₦250,000 respectively for the first, second and third positions.
The TC Chairman is resolute to ensure that Aguata communities clinch the prizes as we are set to embark on a massive recovery of plastic waste in Aguata LGA.
To fulfill his desire, awareness billboards on environment are already standing strong in different locations in Aguata. He said, “Together, we can make our environment better.”
