Following an exclusive meeting scheduled in Awka by the member representing Anambra West Constituency, Hon. Patrick Udoba, Ezego Anam, concerned constituents are speculating on what will constitute the agenda.
The news of the exclusive meeting scheduled for Tuesday, June 25 or Wednesday, June 26, filtered-in through various sources. But most people invited to the meeting said they were yet to know the objective or agenda for it.
Several sources who pleaded anonymity told multichannels247 that the objective would not be far from the alleged desire of Hon. Udoba to vie for the House of Representatives seat in 2027.
A particular source speculated that Hon. Udoba may be nursing the ambition to be at House of Representatives to add to his political profile; having represented his ward as a councillor and now Anambra West constituency as a House of Assembly member.
“There is nothing wrong with such aspiration but he must ensure that he performs exceedingly well in his present position before aspiring for a higher one” he said.
Another source said that while Ezego has the right to vie for the position, that APGA members may prefer to field the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community matters, Hon. TonyCollins Nwabunwanne or even the outgone House of Representatives member, Hon. Chinedu Obidigwe, if the duo decide to contest.
He said the state ruling party will want to field a candidate who must tick all the boxes to ensure equitable balance in Anambra East/West constituency and still be able to defeat the incumbent Labour Party candidate, Hon. Peter Aniekwe.
Still another source said, the meeting may be a part of rallying stakeholders’ support for Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s re-election.
Meanwhile in his response, the Publicity and Media adviser to the House of Assembly member, Comrade Chukwuemeka Chigbata said the meeting is for selected friends and allies of Ezego; and it is just to share ideas on issues of common interest and nothing more.
