Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and the Transition Committee chairman, Anaocha Local Government Area (LGA), Hon. Gerald Ikechukwu Ozoh, Thursday, received heavy praises at the commissioning of a science laboratory at Community High School, Aguluzigbo renovated by the LGA chairman.

In her welcome address, the principal of the school,  Mrs Celestina Obiechina said that the entire community could not express their gratitude enough for the timely gesture shown to them by the LGA under Governor Soludo’s administration. ” It is only God that can reward you enough,” she said. “May God Almighty bless you and your team in many folds in Jesus name.”

The principal, however, appealed for assistance in provision of the necessary equipment that would make the Physics and Chemistry laboratory functional and usable. She said that unless urgent steps are taken, the West African Examination Council  (WAEC) will not allow their students to participate in the science subjects in the forthcoming examination organised by the Council.

She also appealed for support in provision of computers for the school’s computer laboratory, pointing out that the only laptop in the lab, does not work. “Our computer laboratory is not useful to the students because nothing is functioning in it, she said. “All these challenges are affecting teaching and learning in the school.”

In their separate responses, the principal secretary to Governor Soludo, Barr. Joachin Peters Chika Anietoh and a member, Board of Anambra State Post Primary Schools Service Commission (PPSSC), Awka zone,  Dr. Uche Okeke said that Governor Soludo had approved the procurement of the the needed laboratory equipment and they would be supplied in due time.

They also offered to support some students who could not afford to pay for  WAEC registration.

Barr. Anietoh who promised to institute an award system that would motivate the students to take their education more seriously pointed out the need for science education in this era of artificial intelligence and other robotics. He prophesied that nuclear scientists would be produced from the Community High School, Aguluzigbo.

In appreciation, the senior prefect of the school, Master Joseph Joel Chidalu expressed deep appreciation for all the support and promised that he and his colleagues would live up to what is expected of them, by put everything to good useato make their parents and the State at large, proud.

He specifically thanked the Anaocha LGA chairman, Hon. Ozoh and Governor Soludo’s administration for remembering them. He prayed for God Almighty to continue to guide and protect them.

On his part, the President General of Aguluzigbo, Chief Elochukwu Nwokedike represented by a member of the executive said they were overwhelmed with joy and were short of words of expression over the gestures that had lifted a heavy burden off their shoulders. He noted that every community in Anaocha LGA was taking note of the good works of Hon. Gerald Ozoh under the administration of Governor Soludo and he would receive his rewards in due course.

Giving vote of thanks, the councillor representing Aguluzigbo, Hon. (Mrs) Ngozi Asolibe said that words alone are not enough to express their gratitude to Governor Soludo and the LGA chairman for putting joy in their hearts and smile on their faces. “All I can say is gratitude, gratitude and gratitude,” she said.

The students performed several traditional dances in celebration and collectively pledged to continue to pray and support the administration of the Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo.
